A few days ago I bought the new edition of FOAM magazine. An international photography paper published quarterly by the FOAM photography museum in Amsterdam. The issue contained a couple of portfolio shots from a photographer I hadn’t heard of before but whom I have greatly come to admire after reading about his work. His name is JR.

When visiting his site you will stumble upon a great deal of very inspiring and striking photojournalistic images. The story of JR is one that is as awestriking and inspiring as the works he creates. JR found a camera on a subway station and has ever since been hooked to the medium of photography. in order to create the kind of images displayed here, JR had to gain the respect of the ‘banlieue’ gangs in Paris. Getting this respect means a great deal to the content of his work.

More work of JR can be found on his website http://www.jr-art.net/ - Be sure to check it out.
